Bethel Church Starting Point
Every person begins his or her journey with God through connections. Jesus made the connection with his first disciples on the banks of the Sea of Galilee. Shortly afterward he invited them to follow him and experience a purpose for living that was far beyond anything they had ever known before. As those relationships developed those men discovered the true meaning of knowing God. Within a few years they became the leaders of the early church in the book of Acts.

Our Identity
We are all travelers, constantly moving through this life seeking out those things which will give our souls satisfaction, happiness, and peace.  The paths we walk vary but in the end they lead us all to eternity.  The question is where will that eternity be?  Life is truly a journey that was never meant to be navigated alone.  Jesus Christ is our constant guide, showing us the way that leads to life (Prov. 12:28).  Since ancient times, scores of people have made life’s journey as followers of Christ.  Today, we continue with that tradition as a church on a journey!

Our Story
The history of Bethel Church began in July 1951. Thirteen people gathered in a home on the southside of Duncan to organize what would become Bethel Assembly of God Church. Reverend A. D. Stewart was the founding pastor and in the thrity-two years that followed, four other pastors, Willie Louder, Marcus Alexander, J. R. Tucker, and Mark Allen led the church through various stages of growth and development.

In October 1983 a young Texas pastor and his wife received the call from the church to become Bethel's sixth pastor. Ron and Jan Meador moved to Duncan that fall and have led Bethel for the past thirty-two years. In 1989 the church relocated to its present location on twenty-five acres at 700 W. Plato Rd. Since that time the church has added to its campus a children's educational center and a youth center.

Bethel began with a vision of reaching people from all walks of life. Today the congregation consists of all ages of people, ethnicity, and backgrounds. People sense a genuine atmosphere of acceptance and love then they attend Bethel Church.

Pastor Meador has led the church to be a missional church that currently supports more than sixty missionaries and missions organizations around the world. The church has experieced various seasons of growth and development over the past three decades. The ongoing desire of the entire church leadership team focuses on lifting up Jesus Christ as the Lord of life by endeavoring to provide a worship atmosphere that invites the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of people and sound teaching of the Word of God from the pulpit and the classroom that serves to establish a proper spiritual foundation.

The future of the church is certain. Jesus said, "Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matt 16:18 NIV) The foundation and message of the gospel will never change. Methods of presentation may vary from one generation to another, but the non-negotiable foundational principles and beliefs will always remain true to the Word of God. In an hour when trends seem to be swaying many to modify the message to accommodate the self-serving nature of this generation, it is imparative that the truth remain the center focal point of the church's purpose. Jesus said, "You shall know the truth, and the truty shall set you free." (John 8:32 NIV)

We invite you to come and experience for yourself the life-changing reality that exists in a church that is truly making a difference in the Twenty-first Century.
